The arch is one of only four arches in Victoria commemorating those who served in World War I and was constructed in 1925 as a memorial at a cost of £200. It invites you into the White Hills Botanical Gardens on the Napier Street entrance. It's a beautiful reminder of the locals that served in World War 1 to protect their King and country.. The garden, cafe and visitor centre would rise behind the White Hills pool. Pictures: SUPPLIED PLANS for a cafe and visitor centre overlooking a new section of the Bendigo Botanic Gardens have.

Established in 1857, the Bendigo Botanic Gardens is almost as old as Bendigo itself with the site appearing on an 1854 plan of the White Hills township just 3 years after gold was first discovered in Bendigo in 1851. The Garden is Bendigo's first.
